Ever since I was a young teenager I liked The Beatles. The movie Across the Universe & Jim Sturgess's performance only heightened my adoration for their music. So when we planned our visit to London I had to go see the famous Abbey Road & walk across it myself.
I even got lucky & this group of English friends were walking across the road while someone took their photo, enabling me to snap a shot. To see original photos of The Beatles photo shoot & to learn more about the album cover click HERE.

You can even visit Abbey Road Recording Studios. Since the studio is still in use you cannot go inside, but there is a small museum/ shop next to the road you can visit. Unfortunately, it was closed for another 2 hours or so when we were visiting, so we didn't get a chance to go inside.
The wall in front of the studio has graffiti on it. Honestly, it all pretty much is terrible. I did like this sharpie piece though. Do me a favor & leave something on the wall that I could call art like the John Lennon Wall in Prague has. Then leave me a photograph of your work on here!

There are conspiracies surrounding the famous photo which state that Paul had died & that's why he was barefoot. That's also why everyone was wearing black in the photograph. They claim it as if they are going to the funeral & that the "Paul" in the photograph was a look alike that joined the band afterwards.
Due to so much going on in the background of the photographs many interesting facts also surround the photo shoot. One fact I read that I though was unfortunate for a nearby neighbor is that the white car that was in the original photo continuously had their license plate stolen. You can find out more about the conspiracy & 20 interesting facts about the cover HERE.

Traffic is pretty consistent & heavy so BE CAREFUL! I suggest bringing a camera that zooms in well and taking your photograph from the middle median the way I did above. I didn't have a lens that could zoom in well with me however, so this is still pretty far away from where the original photo was taken. In addition, I suggest going early in the morning to avoid the crowds. We went on a Sunday at 8:30 & traffic and tourists were not heavy yet.
Look at me here all overtaken with nostalgia, haha. Now go plan your trip & get your photo taken at the famous Abbey Road crosswalk.
