Instead of boring you for hours about the history of the Coliseum because I could with being a history buff, I will get straight to the point & tell you what you need to know to visit. I have also included some fun facts at the bottom.
Avoid waiting in line with a Roma Pass or by joining a tour group for 20 euro. You can find these people walking up and down the lines. This is what we did after we found out the line was 3 hours long and it was only 8:15. Once inside we ditched the tour because I am not a huge fan of tours. This gave us access by 8:30 at which time it was opening.
When I go back with my husband I am hoping to go on the tour
Walks of Italy’s ‘VIP Colosseum Underground Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill’ where there is VIP access of the arena floor & you get a view from the third tier seats, along with an underground tour.
