Looking for something near Grafenwoehr or Vilseck to do on a rainy day for an hour or two? Head to Nuremberg and get your history fix in at the Palace of Justice. Make sure you go on a day when you can visit the courtroom because in my opinion visiting without seeing the courtroom would not be worth the visit.
Prior to going I highly suggest you watching documentaries on the Nuremberg Courtroom Trials The documentary will be a wonderful replacement if you are not in the mood or have ADD like me and can not focus on reading all of the informational panels that they have.

If you are visiting the Palace of Justice I also highly suggest pairing it with a visit to the Documentation Center as well. I would maybe go to the Palace of Justice first because it is much quicker than the Documentation Center and much smaller. If you want something a little more upbeat you can check out the Imperial Castle which had a lot of WWII history as well.
