My husband and I passed through a winding road on the way from Neuschwanstein to Linderhof Palace which turned into the prettiest scenery I have ever laid eyes on. We discovered the road to Linderhof was closed as we reached Lake Plansee. The detour extended the drive over an hour so instead we decided to park the car and explore the lake side in awe of the beauty it offered. The lake rests in the Lechtal Alps and the Wetterstein and Mieminger mountain chains. The mountains reflect in the icy cold turquois water sending a dazzling light across the landscape.
I took notice that the lake is popular with joggers, motorcyclists, hikers, cyclists, fishermen, photographers, and many others who we spotted along the glistening lakeside. Plansee is Tirol's second largest lake and is one of the cleanest lakes. Hikers can find waterfalls in the silence of the woods or families can spend the night camping under the stars and the towering mountains. The lake even offers a swimming area.
I am not one for going to beaches or being near water, but I wouldn't mind settling down in this place. Now, that's saying something.
