I will be honest, I never thought I would find myself at Moulin Rouge with being a bit more conservative in nature. I always had pictured Moulin Rouge to consist of classless women putting on a show for men like a giant strip club, but famous. With this ignorant perception in mind you can imagine I was taken aback with the show I saw instead. I am an incredibly feminine woman so you can imagine my delight when my eyes swept across a huge room with candlelit tables of overflowing champagne and friends & couples laughing. The velvet and silk maroon curtains and the romantic lighting met with glistening embellished mirror fragments set into the walls captured my eyes. As we sat down the silver curtains sparkled and glistened. My love for all things glittery & 1920's looking was being fulfilled.
When the show started over a dozen women walked onto the stage & performed multiple acts in intricate costumes. The costumes ranged from sparkly gem bralettes that left nothing for the imagination to feathery costumes which transformed into completely different pieces of clothing with the pull of a string. Despite being revealing & seeing a lot of bottoms & tatas I was enjoying the performances. The cancan dancing was one of my favorites. It was very upbeat. I also enjoyed an act in which a woman jumped into a glass tank that came out of the floor filled with giant snakes. She danced & swam in the water with them. There were also a couple of acts that reminded me of Cirque du Soleil. I believe that either Cirque or Moulin Rouge stole the act from one or the other. Either way I didn't mind seeing it again as it was one of my favorite Circe acts I have seen. I also imagine some of the shows in Vegas being similar.
I can't stress enough that seeing Moulin Rouge is an absolute must. If you'd like to see what the show I watched looked like these acts are the same ones I saw. I would not suggest taking children under the age of 13. That is my personal opinion though.

TIPS FOR YOUR TRIP:
I would wear something slightly less formal than a gown. If I could do it again I would have worn something 1920's looking and sparkly with an up-do. Men should wear at least a tie & Sunday's best.
