I want to give you a few tips for shopping so you are not so overwhelmed. I also want to explain that not everything looks like it came from grandma's house & you can find some more modern prints that resemble Kate Spade's polka dot prints & Anthropologie's eclectic patterns.
Below you will find photographs of my purchases.
TIP #1
All of the pottery is rated and has stickers on the items. Category 1 and 2 are the highest quality. Unless you plan on using the item in the dish washer, oven, or microwave you don't need these ratings because you can save money on items that are decor pieces by simply seeking a lower rating.
TIP #2
Don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Check out a variety of shops before you use all of the money you brought. My favorite patterns were at Manufaktura's, Zak Lady, & Andy's.
TIP #3
You can use your card if it has a chip. Ask them to charge you in zloty because the conversion rate is better than when they charge you dollars. You can also use euro, but bring smaller bills.
TIP #4
A few of the shops let you take free tours to observe how the pottery is made. One of them even offers to teach you how to blow glass for a fee.
TIP #5
Make a list of the items you are looking for so you don't get so overwhelmed. My list included the following: castle print, a basket, a cake stand, & a hand held bell. I only found the cake stand, but I found a few other items that were not on my list as well. Be prepared for finding more than what you were looking for so you don't go over your budget.
TIP #5
Speaking of budget, I suggest to at least be prepared to spend about $150-200 on your first trip. Larger items cost more and so do more detailed items. Know the conversion rate like the back of your hand.
TIP #6
Go early and go on a week day. This helps you avoid the crowds. If you are unsure about an item you will have plenty of time and can always go back. We went back to Andy's for my cake stand and my friend actually found more travel mugs. They put out about 20 more in the time that we were shopping at other stores. It never hurts to go back because it may not be guaranteed that the item you want so much will be easy to find again if at all.
