The Prague Easter market is the best Easter market that you can attend near East Germany. The market is located in the Old Town which surrounds you with its remarkable architecture. There are also locations that are a bit smaller at Wenceslas Square, the Peace Square, & the Republic Square. Many wooden stalls includes a variety of Czech food & traditional handcrafted items. If you are looking for hand painted Easter eggs this is definitely the market to attend. There are even booths that will paint your name on the eggs.
Foodies will also enjoy the market which includes Trdelník', a hot sugar coated pastry resembling a cinnamon donut. It can be purchased at practically every corner. Near the Charles Bridge you can purchase one of these stuffed with soft serve ice cream & lined with Nutella and almost any fruit you can think of adding. Although I wasn’t a fan, preferring the traditional Trdelník, you may love it. It has come to be very popular because of Instagram.
Hot potatoes are also advertised & are similar to hot potato chips, but they are served on skewers. Large hams are roasted on spits which will make for a mouthwatering sight to meat lovers. After all of that delicious food, you can wash it down with a local favorite, the Pilsner beer.
Children can visit the farm pens to feed and pet sheep, goats, and donkeys. The kids will also enjoy the stages that are erected with folk dancers prancing around in traditional costume. The market is sure to bring delight to the entire family and isn't like any Easter market that I have attended in Germany.
