The one thing my husband wanted to see when visiting London was Shakespeare's Globe. The exhibition inside is very informative about William Shakespeare, the history of The Globe, and plays during that time period as well. I even learned that Shakespeare invented over 1700 words and phrases. My husband enlightened me & gave me examples of some of the words and phrases.
We also learned that the theater is a replica of the Globe that Shakespeare had built. The ground where the original was located has since been replaced by a modern building being built over it. The replica is spectacular, however. The marble columns have been hand painted to look like marble. Can you believe what a task that must have been?
The tour guide is passionate about her work there and the artifacts in the exhibition is extremely informative. During our tour a few actors were warming up. We were able to see some of the techniques that they use to alter their voices. We tried to get tickets to the show last minute prior to discovering that it was sold out. If you are more prepared you can see one of the plays for as little as 5 pounds.
