The Eiffel Tower is a landmark that I remember learning about as a child, but never in my wildest dreams did I think I could afford to travel there. Luckily, we live in Germany & the bus ride was very reasonable. Now we all can recognize the tower, but how much do you actually know about it?
DID YOU KNOW?
-It was not intended to be permanent.
-There are 20,000 light bulbs on the tower.
- It's the most visited paid monument in the world.
-The Eiffel Tower has been repainted 20 times.
-During WWII the French cut the cable wires so Hitler would have to climb the 1,665 steps to reach the top.
-In 1909 the tower was going to be demolished. Instead they re-purposed it by making it into a radio antenna.

This beauty has been around since 1889 so it is no wonder why so many flock to the Eiffel to see it. Towering at 108 stories high the Tower is a great place to view the city of Paris. Unfortunately, due to being in Paris for a short time we couldn't go up the tower. The line was out of this world, so prepare yourself when you visit. You can also buy the tickets for just the elevator online HERE.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd make it to this side of the ocean to see The Eiffel Tower. Now that I think back on my visit it makes me want to cry appreciative tears for the opportunity. Although we didn't go up the tower we sat under it for over an hour in amazement people watching. Such a wonderful experience.

I was very disjointed in the park below the tower. I know that the country was in morning from the attacks in Nice & just had celebrated Bastille 2 nights prior so perhaps they hadn't had the chance to clean the park? There were firework buts & trash everywhere. Still, do I regret not going to the top? Yes, I do. I hope to be able to go when we go back to visit Versailles & the Catacombs.
TIPS FOR YOUR TRIP
-Be aware that you can't bring drinks or food into the park.
-Take your photos from across the bridge before your get to the bridge, because it starts to get crowded the closer you get.
-Don't buy your knick-knacks under the tower, because they are overpriced.
