Burgruine Wolfstein dates from the 12th century. During the Landshut War of Succession in the 16th century it was abandoned & fell into disrepair. Archaeology excavations began in 1997 and it is still currently being repaired. These ruins have been my favorite so far because of the drawbridge & huge moat surrounding it. The views from the castle were also my favorite because it offered so many different positions in which it loomed over the city. It is also the easiest to access among the ruins I have been to because you can park at the top of the castle.
