If you find yourself in Salzburg with children the Hellbrunn Trick Fountains is the place to be. Don't get me wrong though, adults can enjoy this too. My husband & I went by ourselves and enjoyed the architecture and laughter of running from getting wet from the unexpected trick fountains and watching others do the same.
The best part is that The Sound of Music pavilion & the palace can be located here as well. Therefore, you get a variety of history and destinations in one place. There is also a zoo, a museum on folklore and creatures, and a park you can take in as well on your visit located on the grounds.

This is a great way to cool off in the hot summer months. The tour lasted about 30 minutes to an hour and consisted of a group of about 30 of us. Although I am not a fan of group tours, it is the only way to see the trick fountains. The tour leader is great about letting everyone take their time to get pictures in, but push people that take forever to keep up. The guide speaks German & English and teaches you about the 400 year old history of the grounds.
